HYTORC Center Lock Torque Gun

HYTORC Center Lock Torque Gun

Center Lock Torque Gun

Something that all Porsche owners have dreamt of having, including me, is a precision tool that allows you to remove and tighten center lock wheels. Joel (from HYTORC) came down to OGHQ to show me one of the prototype torque guns they’ve custom-programmed to tighten center locks to Porsche specifications. This thing is awesome!

What’s great about this tool is that you don’t run the risk of over-torquing the nut on your wheels with the ease of removing a 443 ft pound center lock! Because the torque gun is programmed (for Porsche), it tightens to 600-newton meters (443 ft pounds), backs it off 60°, and then tightens it back to 600-newton meters - making the process of putting wheels on and taking them off super-efficient. If you're using this for a different make of vehicle or purpose, you'd have to program it with the proper specs.

Now, some of you may be thinking, why can’t I just use my big Milwaukee impact with nut-busting torque to remove my wheels? The issue with using an impact tool is that it won’t be precise & can damage your center locks/wheels, which is problematic. Controlled torque is the name of the game here (Think of the HYTORC tool as a high-end digital/motorized torque multiplier), eliminating any chance of not hitting the specified torque that Porsche specifies.

My experience with this gun has been fantastic. It’s not often that I get excited about a product, but I made it very clear to Joel that I want to bring it to the market.

If you have a car or multiple with center locks, I know this solution will be a worthwhile investment.

As you've seen in our original video of this tool, it looks a little different. As of now, HYTORC is not manufacturing its own center locks and center lock adapters for the tool. In the future, we might have a simple all-in-one solution that doesn't require a reaction arm. Until we get there, this is the best solution on the market made for this process!
